Group Picture of Band On The Edge

Band on the Edge was formed in 2013 by a group of keen musicians with different backgrounds. Like most jazz groups, they started out with jazz standards, but were keen to explore many other styles, and their repertoire now includes early ragtime and hot jazz numbers from the twenties, ballads and show songs, 30s and 40s swing that audiences can dance to, Afro jazz, Latin and some jazz rock styles from the 60s onwards.

Band on the Edge features saxophone, trumpet, harmonica, guitar, keyboard, bass, drums and vocals. It has played for charities, parties, in jazz clubs and other venues.

An evening of quality entertainment is guaranteed.

This concert is for the Pazapa Charity which supports Pazapa School and Clinic in Haiti.

Friday 23rd November 2018 at 7.30 pm

We are pleased to welcome back singer songwriters Tim Chu and Ian Bailey. They will be presenting “A Celebration of Simon and Garfunkel” billed by the BBC “as the UK’s leading non tribute show currently dazzling live music lovers throughout the UK.”

Tim chu and ian bailey who perform simon and garfunkel music
We have had many requests both from those saw the show and those who missed the exceptional performance by Tim and Ian, last year.

These two talented professional musicians, from the North West of England, have grown up listening to the music of Simon and Garfunkel. Both the composition and vocal blend has a strong influence on their respective careers. They deliver the music in their own unique way that honouring the original recordings, without falling into the regular tribute act category. So no costumes, wigs, or make up! Just two great musicians producing an ambient collection of Simon &Garfunkel’s much loved hits.
“Everyone loves the music of Simon & Garfunkel and for me no one has created it better than Tim and Ian. The concert simply blew me away” Phil Cool, TV comedian, impressionist, and musician.

Tickets Adult £12 Child £6 available from Burway Books, John Thomas Florist, or C.S.Town Council Office or on-line here

CASABLANCA STEPS

Pictures of the four musicians

Friday 19th October 2018 at 7.30 pm

One of the most experienced and established 1920s / 30s musical acts in Europe, The Casablanca Steps are four individual and talented performers unequalled in their field who recreate the authentic musical ambience of the 1920s and 30s when the “Charleston” was all the rage and the swells were “Putting On The Ritz”. Pictures of the four musicians

Their performance is world class with over 40 TV shows throughout the UK and Europe to their credit. They have entertained at festivals, theatres, cruise lines and private parties globally with great acclaim. They have rubbed shoulders with celebrities and Royalty, being personal favourite of Prince Philip after their performance for him at St James Palace, London.

Unique Sound and Harmonies

Their totally unique sound and authentic three part vocal harmonies, combined with a quintessentially English visual element of serious “tongue in cheek” humour make their show a unique experience for all ages.

This is a good opportunity to see this talented entertaining and popular band, whom I have known for a long while. So indulge in an evening with Wooten, Clarke, Edwardo and Pico – Four great performers who really know how to entertain.

Wooten Boetard

Wooten Boetard

Trombone, vocals and eyebrows. Following a narrow escape on the Titanic where he was working as a scullery maid, Wotten vowed to give up his former profession (though not the silk stockings) and formed The Casablanca Steps.

Clark Deville

Clarke Deville

Guitar Vocals and Psychiatric counselling. He’s got rhythm. And music And my gal too. Who can ask for anything more? Well just in case you could he’s also got several small islands in the Pacific.

Edwardo

Edwardo

Piano, vocals & limitless talents. Former page 4 model and diet water addict, the charming raconteur joined The Casablanc Steps because of his love of the finer things in life. Perhaps his public school experiences explain his eccentric behaviour, and perhaps they don’t.

Pico Boon lll

Pico Boon lll

Double Bass & centre parting. Pico has had a distinguished career as a War correspondent, chef and billiard player. Following The “Steps” recently being stranded on the Cape Verde islands they have at last found a use for the Double Bass and case, both of which make ideal canoes.

The Poobahs

The Poobahs

Friday 21st September 2018 at 7.30 pm

The PoobahsWe are all set for a good start for our Autumn Programme of Friday Night at the Horne and launch with The Poobahs.

This is nothing to do with Poo-Bah, the haughty and inflated character in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado, although the band tell us they chose the name with their collective tongue firmly in their cheek!

The Poobahs don't want to change the world, they just want to play music they love in a variety of genres, ranging from Western Swing to Celtic fiddle tunes; from Tex-Mex to Dartford Delta Blues.

The members of the band are certainly qualified to cover all those bases with John Hymas's rich violin and lively accordion weaving between Dave Luke's warm vocals and understated guitar, all underpinned by Clovis Phillips's dextrous but tasteful bass-playing and George Jackson's solid, subtle percussion.

The Poobahs' toe-tapping, soul-soothing music and great versatility bring undeniable class to an evening in the Silvester Horne.

We will be pleased to welcome you back with a glass of wine or beer or soft drink which is included in your ticket.

Tickets £10 available from John Thomas Florist, Burway Books, or C.S.Town Council office or on line here....
