AN EVENING WITH THE 309s –
At the Silvester Horne Institute, Church Stretton
Sounds mostly from the southern States of America.
West Yorkshire 5 piece, the 309s have been rocking and rolling for the last 14 years with their swing repertoire at events all over the country. Think Hank Williams , Bob Willis and Louis Jordan.
The 309s bring the sounds mostly from the southern States of America between the 1925 and 1950 giving a good range of music from Western Swing ( Jazz with a cowboy hat) created by Bob Wills in Texas right through to Rock ‘n ‘Roll’s early days in Memphis, Tennesse with their infectious songs and swinging beats and other influences, including country boogie and jump blues.
Two top vocalists backed by soaring fiddle and a lap steel guitar with a good rhythm section. There’s a mixture of old songs delivered with humour and energy, should make for a cracking night. So why not dress in style for a Great Night Out?
