The Carnival Band: A Festive Musical Journey

At the Silvester Horne Institute, Church Stretton

Friday 15th December at 7.30pm

Night Out At The Horne brings back:

The Carnival Band

A Festive Musical Journey

“Full of vivacity, originality and wit” (BBC Stoke)”

The Carnival Band are one of the best- loved eclectic folk and early music bands and present a unique take on music for the festive season. Many of the familiar Christmas carols that we enjoy have their routes in the music of earlier times, and the concert will include street ballads, songs and dances that range from the middle ages to the present day. The band play an array of instruments from medieval shawms and bagpipes to
contemporary guitar and double bass.

With songs that cover an amazing spectrum, from traditional English folk to cool jazz and Latin beats, there is much variety as the band moves through the centuries. Their Yuletide cocktail is guaranteed to be an evening of consummate musicianship laced with good humour and their rapport with the audience will charm even the most Scrooge – like heart.

Firm favourites with audiences throughout the UK, including Church Stretton when they played here in 2017, thanks to frequent collaborations with Maddy Prior, the band have toured Japan, and the Middle East.

A perfect start to the Christmas Season.
